GPS Attendance
GPS attendance records a check-in from an employee's phone along with their location, usually constrained to a defined area. It covers field staff, site engineers and branch teams who are nowhere near a biometric device.
Also called: geofenced attendance, mobile check-in, field attendance, geo attendance

What a geofence is
A geofence is a boundary drawn around a location: an office, a site, a client's premises. Check-in is accepted inside it and rejected outside. It converts a location reading into a yes or no rather than leaving a manager to interpret coordinates.
Radius matters. Set it too tight and employees fail to check in from the far side of a compound. Set it too loose and it stops proving anything.
Where GPS beats a device, and where it does not
- Better for field staff, sales teams, site visits and small branches where installing hardware is not worth it.
- Weaker as sole proof of presence: a phone can be somewhere its owner is not.
- Best used together with biometric devices at fixed locations rather than as a replacement for them.
Say what is collected
Location is sensitive. The policy should state that location is captured at check-in and check-out only, not continuously, and employees should be told that in plain language rather than in a clause nobody reads.
GPS Attendance, answered
The employee checks in from their phone, the app records the time and the location, and a geofence around the expected location decides whether the check-in is accepted.
For field and branch staff it is often the only practical option. At a fixed workplace a biometric device is stronger proof of presence, so most companies run both.

- Biometric Attendanceबायोमेट्रिक हाजिरीBiometric attendance records a punch using a physical identifier such as a fingerprint or a face, on a device at the workplace. Because the identifier cannot be handed to a colleague, it removes buddy punching, which is the main weakness of card and register systems.
- Attendance RegularisationAttendance regularisation is the process for correcting an attendance record: a missed punch, a forgotten check-out, a day spent at a client site. The employee raises it, a manager approves it, and the corrected record carries an audit trail.
- Working Hoursकामको समयNepal's Labour Act 2074 sets working hours at eight a day and forty-eight a week, with at least one day of rest each week. Time worked beyond that is overtime and carries the higher rate.
