NepalHRM, Next to Everything Else Sold Here
Twelve side-by-side comparisons: the Nepali vendors, the Indian platforms and the spreadsheet. Each one is our side of the argument, written from the other product's public information, and each says so.
Most HR software shortlists in Nepal come down to one question that has nothing to do with feature lists: does the payroll engine know what PF, CIT, SSF, the IRD eTDS format and a Shrawan to Ashad fiscal year are, or does somebody have to keep a spreadsheet alongside it to finish the month?
That question splits the market cleanly, so the comparisons below are grouped by it. Within the Nepali group the answer is yes for everyone and the differences are module depth, support and price. Across the border it is no, however capable the product is.
Nepali HR Software
Built here, sold here, and competing on the same statutory ground: PF, CIT, SSF, eTDS and the Bikram Sambat fiscal year. These comparisons come down to depth of module, support and price.

Capable products whose statutory engine was built for another country. The question on these pages is not whether the software is good, it is what happens to PF, CIT, SSF, the eTDS format and a Shrawan to Ashad year when the compliance set is Indian.
Most Companies Are Not Switching Vendors. They Are Leaving Excel.
The system NepalHRM replaces most often is a salary sheet somebody maintains by hand, and that comparison is worth reading before any of the ones above.
- A spreadsheet cannot read approved attendance, so payable days are retyped every month.
- Slab and rate changes have to be found and applied by a person, in every copy of the file.
- There is no lock, so a closed month can change after the accounts are drawn.
- The payslip, the bank file and the contribution figures are three separate manual exports.
Six Questions That Separate HR Software Sold in Nepal
Ask every vendor on your list, including us. The answers are more useful than a feature grid.
Is the tax engine Nepali?
Which fiscal year's slabs does it apply, and does it handle the SSF exemption from the 1% social security tax? See the current rates on the free calculators.
PF or SSF, on basic or gross?
Statutory contributions are assessed on basic salary. A system that applies them to gross will over-deduct on every employee, every month.
Does attendance actually reach payroll?
Ask to see approved attendance becoming payable days in one run, not exported to a sheet and imported back.
Bikram Sambat, everywhere?
Statutory deadlines are counted from the end of the BS month. A Gregorian-only period adds a reconciliation to every cycle.
What comes out at the end of a run?
Salary register, bank transfer file, payslips, contribution totals and the eTDS file in IRD format, from the same run rather than four rebuilds.
Where is support, and in what language?
A statutory question at month end is not a ticket that can wait for a different time zone.

Choosing Between HR Systems in Nepal
It depends on what your obligations are. A company that has to run PF, CIT, SSF and the IRD eTDS format on a Shrawan to Ashad year needs a system whose statutory engine was built for that, which rules out most Indian and global platforms regardless of how good they are otherwise. Among Nepali vendors the differences are module depth, support and price, which is what each comparison below sets out.
No, and no vendor's comparison is. These are our side of each one, written from each competitor's publicly available information, and every page carries a disclaimer saying so with the date the information was read. Use them to find the questions worth asking, then put those questions to both vendors.
You can run one, but its payroll will not produce Nepali statutory output on its own. Indian platforms calculate PF, ESI, professional tax and Indian TDS on a Gregorian April to March year. Nepali payroll needs PF or SSF on basic salary, CIT, the IRD slabs and the Bikram Sambat calendar, so the gap is usually filled with a spreadsheet, which is where the errors come from.
Any payroll system whose deductions and periods are Nepali. The spreadsheet comparison is included below because it is the most common thing NepalHRM actually replaces, and the honest answer is that a spreadsheet is fine until headcount, statutory deadlines or an audit trail make it expensive.
Each one records the date the competitor's public information was read, and the vendor set was last verified in July 2026. Products change, so confirm current features and pricing with each vendor before deciding.
