Offboardingबहिर्गमन प्रक्रिया
Offboarding is the process of ending employment properly: handover, asset recovery, access revocation, clearance from each department, the exit conversation, and the final settlement.
Also called: exit process, exit clearance, employee separation
The order that works
- Notice acknowledged, last working day fixed in writing.
- Handover documented: what the leaver owns, and who takes each item.
- Assets recovered while the employee is still on site.
- Access revoked on the last day, not a week later.
- Departmental clearance collected, finance and IT included.
- Exit conversation held early enough for what is said to be useful.
- Full and final settlement paid once clearance is complete.
The two failures that cost real money
Access left live after someone has gone is a security exposure that nobody notices until it matters. It is also the easiest thing on the list to automate, because the last working day is already known.
Settling before clearance is the other. Once the final payment has been made, an unreturned laptop or an outstanding advance is a conversation with somebody who no longer works for you.
Exit conversations are a data source
One exit interview is an anecdote. Twenty, recorded consistently and read together, are the clearest signal a company gets about why people leave. That only works if the questions are the same each time and the answers are written down somewhere they will be read.
Offboarding, answered
Handover, asset recovery, access revocation, departmental clearance, the exit conversation, and the full and final settlement, in that order.
No. Once payment has been made, recovering an asset or an outstanding advance depends on the goodwill of somebody who has already left.
This page explains general practice in Nepal. It is not legal or tax advice, and statutory figures are revised from time to time. Check the current Act, rule or notice before acting on it.
