The entitlement

Fifteen paid days, granted to an employee whose spouse has given birth. It is a statutory entitlement rather than a discretionary benefit, so it does not depend on the company having a written policy for it.

Timing and combination

The leave is intended to be taken around the birth. Many employees want to extend it using accumulated home leave, and whether they can, and with how much notice, is worth stating in the policy so it is not negotiated individually each time.
