A Payslip Is Missing, Wrong or Will Not Download

A month is absent from your payslip list, the download opens a print dialog or nothing at all, or the figures do not match what you expected.

The short answer

If a month is missing, payroll for that period has not been marked paid yet. Employees are shown paid payslips only, deliberately, so that a figure still being adjusted by HR never reaches you and then changes. If the download behaves oddly, that is because it is not a file download: NepalHRM builds the payslip as a page and hands it to your browser's print dialog, where you choose Save as PDF. There is no payslip password, so nothing is asking you for one. If the numbers look wrong, expand the line items in the app and take the specific line to HR.

Work through these in order

Cheapest first. Each step says what you should see if it worked, so you can stop as soon as it does.

  1. Ask HR whether the period has been marked paid

Payroll moves through draft, review and approval first. Your payslip appears at the end of that, and there is nothing you can do from your side to bring it forward.

The month appears in your list once HR completes the period.

  2. Expect a print dialog, not a file

Choosing download opens your browser's print view. Set the destination to Save as PDF and confirm. On a phone, the option is usually under the share or print menu that appears.

You get a PDF saved wherever your browser puts downloads.

  3. Do not go looking for a password

There is none, and there never has been. If something asks you for one, it is protecting the app or the folder you opened the file from, not the payslip.

    The payslip opens normally.

  4. Try a normal browser if you are inside another app

Opening NepalHRM inside a chat app's built-in browser often blocks printing. Open it in Chrome or Safari directly and repeat the download.

The print dialog appears as expected.

  5. Expand the line items before disputing a figure

Open the payslip in the app rather than the PDF. Each earning, deduction and contribution is listed separately, so you can see which line is unexpected.

You can point at one line rather than at the net figure.

  6. Take it to HR, not to support

The numbers come from your salary structure, your attendance and your company's tax settings. Support cannot see or change any of those. HR can.

HR reviews the payslip against your structure and corrects the run if needed.

Still stuck? Send us this

Include all of it in the first message and the first reply back is usually a fix rather than a question.

  • The month, and whether HR has confirmed the period is paid.
  • The line item you are querying, and the figure you expected instead.
  • What happens on download: a print dialog, an error, or nothing at all.
  • The device and browser you are using.
Common questions

Asked most often

There is not one. The payslip is not an encrypted file. NepalHRM renders it as a page and your browser's Save as PDF produces the document, so there is nothing to unlock. If a password box appears, it belongs to whatever app you opened the file in.

The payroll period has not been marked paid. Employees are shown paid payslips only, so that a figure HR is still adjusting never appears and then changes underneath you.

The download is a print action, and some in-app browsers block printing. Open NepalHRM in Chrome or Safari directly rather than inside a chat or mail app, then try again.

Expand the line items in the app. Check for unpaid leave or absence lines if your company lets attendance affect pay, then for a loan or advance recovery, then for the tax line. Take the specific line to HR.

The self-service payslip history masks it to the last four digits on purpose. HR sees the full number where they need it.

Ask your former HR contact. Sign-in is blocked once an account is offboarded, so you cannot fetch it yourself, but the company still holds the records.
