Republic Day, Jestha 15, marks the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly on Jestha 15, 2065 BS (28 May 2008), which ended the monarchy and declared Nepal a federal democratic republic.
Does a company have to spend one of its days on a national day?
No. Section 41(2) leaves the choice to the employer, and national days are where companies differ most. Republic Day, Constitution Day and Democracy Day close government offices under the notice, but a private company may keep them as working days and spend its 13 on festivals its staff travel home for.
Whichever way it goes, put it in the published holiday list. A national day the company has not picked is an ordinary working day, so working it earns no substitute leave.
