A Menu, Module or Button Is Missing

A page a colleague can reach is not in your sidebar, or clicking something returns a permission error.

The short answer

Three separate things can hide a page in NepalHRM, and they fail differently. If nobody in the company can see it, the module is switched off for the workspace. If only you cannot see it, it is your role or a per-employee override. If it appeared after an admin changed something but still errors, your browser is holding the old permissions and a hard refresh fixes it. Work through those in that order and you will not need a ticket.

Work through these in order

Cheapest first. Each step says what you should see if it worked, so you can stop as soon as it does.

  1. Ask one colleague on a different role

If an admin cannot see it either, this is a workspace-level module switch, not your permissions. Skip to the module check.

You know whether to look at people or at settings.

  2. Hard-refresh the browser

The front end caches your role locally. After an admin grants a permission the server allows the request, but your tab can still be drawing the old menu. Reload with the cache bypassed, or sign out and back in.

The menu redraws with everything you are entitled to.

  3. Have an admin read your effective permissions

An admin opens the permissions screen, switches to per-employee overrides and selects you. What matters is the combination of your role default and any override on your name, not the role alone.

The admin can see the exact permission that is missing or explicitly denied.

  4. Check whether the module is switched on for the workspace

An admin opens the feature settings and looks for the module. Some features depend on another being on first, and the interface greys out combinations that cannot work.

Turning it on restores the routes and the navigation for everyone entitled to them.

  5. Check the plan

Some modules are not available on every plan, so the switch will not hold. Compare what you are on against the plan table before assuming a fault.

Either the module is available and can be enabled, or an upgrade is the honest answer.

What the system does

Roles
sixemployee, manager, HR, accountant, admin, super admin
Per-employee overrides
beat the role defaulta grant or a denial on one person wins
When a permission change applies
the next requestno sign-out needed, but the browser caches the role
Turning a module off
hides it, keeps the dataswitching it back on restores everything

Still stuck? Send us this

Include all of it in the first message and the first reply back is usually a fix rather than a question.

  • The exact page or button, and its URL if you can reach it.
  • Your role, and whether an admin can see the same page.
  • Whether the module appears in the workspace feature settings at all.
  • A screenshot of the error, if there is one.
Common questions

Asked most often

Either they are on a different role, or someone granted them an individual override. Overrides sit on top of the role default and win, in both directions, so two people on the same role can legitimately see different menus.

The browser caches your role. The server has already accepted the change, so a hard refresh (or a sign-out and back in) is enough. You do not need to wait for anything.

No. It hides the routes and the navigation entries. Everything that was recorded stays where it was, and switching the module back on returns it untouched.

Not a regular admin. Granting the admin role is restricted above that level on purpose, so an account compromise cannot quietly mint more administrators.
