Christmas Day 2083 क्रिसमस डे

Friday · clause 2.1(j) of the notice
Counting to Christmas Day
December 25. Listed among the nationwide festival holidays rather than the faith-specific ones.
Christmas Day, 25 December, celebrates the birth of Jesus. The notice lists it among the nationwide festival holidays rather than among the faith-specific ones.
Festival expense at Christmas instead of Dashain
Festival expense, one month's basic remuneration, is owed for the festival the employee celebrates. Section 37(2) makes Dashain the default only where the employee has not asked for another. A Christian employee can ask for it at Christmas, and the employer then pays it before Christmas instead of before Dashain.
Payroll needs the choice before the Dashain run, or it pays the default. One question at onboarding settles it for good.
Is Christmas Day a paid holiday for a private company?
Only if the company picks it. Section 41 of the Labour Act 2074 fixes 13 paid public leave days a year (14 for a female employee) and leaves the choice of days to the employer; government offices close under the notice.
Nepal Rajpatra, Khanda 75, Sankhya 67, Bhag 5, clause 2.1(j).
