Counting to Yomari Punhi

The notice lists three festivals as one day. For Newar families it is Yomari Punhi, the harvest full moon of the yomari dumpling. For Kirat communities it is Udhauli, when families move down to lower land for the winter. It is also Jyapu Diwas, the day of the Jyapu farming community.

Three festivals, one entry: Udhauli and Ubhauli

Because the notice lists them as one entry, they use one of a company's days, not three. For Kirat staff it is the second half of a pair: Udhauli here in Poush, and Ubhauli on Chandi Purnima in Baishakh.

A company with many Kirat employees that gives Ubhauli in spring will usually give Udhauli too. The notice also grants Falgunanda Jayanti to the Kirat faith only.

Is Yomari Punhi a paid holiday for a private company?

Only if the company picks it. Section 41 of the Labour Act 2074 fixes 13 paid public leave days a year (14 for a female employee) and leaves the choice of days to the employer; government offices close under the notice.
