Counting to Constitution Day

Constitution Day, Ashoj 3, marks the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS (20 September 2015).

Where labour rights come from

Article 34 of the Constitution is the right regarding labour: every labourer has the right to fair labour practice, to appropriate remuneration, facilities and contributory social security, and to form trade unions and bargain collectively. The Labour Act 2074 and the Contribution Based Social Security Act 2074 came two years later and turn that article into rules an employer can be held to.

In 2083 Constitution Day falls on a Saturday, so where Saturday is the weekly rest day it costs no working time either way.

Labour Act 2074, explained

Is Constitution Day a paid holiday for a private company?

Only if the company picks it. Section 41 of the Labour Act 2074 fixes 13 paid public leave days a year (14 for a female employee) and leaves the choice of days to the employer; government offices close under the notice.
