Tihar 2083 तिहार बिदा

Date

Kartik 22 2083

Sun, 8 Nov 2026 to Thu, 12 Nov 2026

Sunday · 5 days · clause 2.1(g) of the notice

Counting to Tihar

Kartik 22 to Kartik 26, Laxmi Puja through the day after Bhai Tika.

Is Tihar a paid holiday for a private company?

A private employer is not obliged to close for it. Section 41(1) of the Labour Act 2074 fixes a count, 13 paid public leave days a year and 14 for a female labour, and Section 41(2) leaves the choice of days to the employer. In practice almost every company in Nepal picks this block, and at 5 days it spends a large part of the annual entitlement on its own.

If it lands on the weekly off day

If Tihar falls on the company's weekly rest day, an employee who is required to work a weekly holiday takes a substitute day within 21 days under Section 42(2) of the Labour Act 2074. A public holiday that merely coincides with the weekly off does not create a second day off by itself.

Nepal Rajpatra, Khanda 75, Sankhya 67, Bhag 5, published 2082-11-18 BS by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Nepal. Clause 2.1(g). Every date on this page is read from that notice and its weekday is recomputed from the Bikram Sambat calendar at build time, so a mistyped date fails the build rather than reaching this page.

The rest of the year

Nepal public holiday calendar 2083 lists all 34 days in the notice with a picker that turns them into the 13 a company actually has to grant.

Tihar 2083 questions

Tihar is Kartik 22 2083 BS, which is Sun, 8 Nov 2026 to Thu, 12 Nov 2026, a block of 5 days. The date comes from clause 2.1(g) of the Government of Nepal's 2083 public holiday notice.

A private employer is not obliged to close for it. Section 41(1) of the Labour Act 2074 fixes a count, 13 paid public leave days a year and 14 for a female labour, and Section 41(2) leaves the choice of days to the employer. About 34 days to a general employee, across the whole notice. The Labour Act 2074 obliges a private employer to 13 of them, so the two numbers are roughly three working weeks apart. The full list is on the holiday calendar.
